(“SchoolSafeZone,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use schoolsafezone.org and related services (the “Services”). SchoolSafeZone Inc. is a nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

1) Information We Collect
A) Information you provide
Because our community features run through WPForo, we may collect:

Account information: username, email address, password (stored in encrypted/hashed form), and any profile fields you choose to fill out

Community content: posts, comments, topics, replies, likes/reactions, uploads, profile content, and private messages (where enabled)

Communications: messages you send to us (support, reports, feedback)

Donations/payments (if applicable): donation amount and transaction metadata. We generally do not store full payment card numbers if you use a third-party processor.
B) Information collected automatically
We may collect:

Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, pages viewed, referrals, timestamps

Cookies and similar technologies: to keep you logged in, remember preferences, support site security, and help understand site usage
C) Anti-spam and bot protection (Google reCAPTCHA)
We use Google reCAPTCHA to help prevent spam and abuse on forms (such as registration, login, and contact forms). reCAPTCHA may collect information such as:

This information is processed by Google under its own terms and privacy practices.
2) How We Use Information
We use information to:

Provide and operate the Services (accounts, WPForo community features, moderation tools)

3) Community and Public Visibility
The Services include community areas where users can post content.

Public areas: Anything you post in public forums may be visible to others and may be shared by users outside SchoolSafeZone.

Profiles: Your profile may display a username and any optional information you add.

Private areas: If private messaging is enabled, messages are visible to the participants and site admins/moderators as needed for safety, abuse prevention, and enforcement.
You control what you share. Avoid posting personal data—especially information about minors.
4) Information About Minors and Student Safety
The Services are not intended for children under 13.
If you are under 18, use the Services only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.
Do not post sensitive information about minors (full names paired with identifying details, home addresses, phone numbers, schedules, precise locations, or student records). We may remove content and/or suspend accounts to protect minors and the community.

5) Cookies, reCAPTCHA, and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies for:

Essential functions: login sessions, security protections, and site preferences (including WPForo community features)

Anti-abuse/security: Google reCAPTCHA may set cookies or use similar signals to distinguish humans from automated traffic and reduce spam

6) When We Share Information
We may share information in these situations:
A) Service providers
We may share information with vendors who help us run the Services (hosting, email delivery, security, spam prevention, and payment processing if applicable). They may access information only to perform services for us and must protect it.
B) Google reCAPTCHA
Because we use Google reCAPTCHA, certain device/interaction data may be shared with Google to evaluate traffic and prevent abuse.
C) Legal and safety reasons
We may disclose information if we believe it’s necessary to:

enforce our Terms, protect rights/safety, investigate fraud/abuse

provide the Services (including maintaining WPForo posts/accounts)

If you delete content or close your account, some information may remain in backups/logs for a limited period, or where required by law.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information. No system is 100% secure. Use strong passwords and keep your login private.
9) Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

12) Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. If changes are material, we will post the updated version and revise the Effective Date. Continued use means you accept the updated policy.
