These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the SchoolSafeZone website, community, and related services (collectively, the “Services”), operated by SchoolSafeZone Inc., a nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (“SchoolSafeZone,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By accessing or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.


1) Who We Are

The Services are provided by:

2) Our Mission

SchoolSafeZone is a mission-driven nonprofit. Our Services exist to support student focus, digital wellbeing, and school communities. Use of the Services must align with safe, respectful, and lawful participation—especially where minors are involved.


3) Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services.

If you are under 18, you may use the Services only with permission from a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms.

If you are using the Services on behalf of a school, district, organization, or group, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.


4) Accounts, Registration, and Security

To access certain features, you may need an account.

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information during registration

  • Keep your login credentials confidential

  • Notify us promptly of any unauthorized access or security issues

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or create risk to users, the community, or the Services.


5) Community Content and User Responsibilities

The Services may allow you to post, upload, or share content (“User Content”).

You are solely responsible for your User Content and confirm that:

  • You have the rights to post it

  • It is not illegal, harmful, misleading, or invasive of another person’s rights

  • It does not violate privacy laws or intellectual property rights

Special rule for minors and students

To protect students and families, you agree not to post or share:

  • A minor’s full name, address, phone number, school schedule, or precise location

  • Student records or any legally protected education information

  • Photos/videos of minors without appropriate legal consent

  • Harassment, bullying, threats, sexual content involving minors, or any exploitation (zero tolerance)

We may remove content at our discretion.


6) Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Break any law or encourage others to do so

  • Impersonate others or misrepresent affiliation

  • Harass, bully, threaten, or target individuals or groups

  • Collect user data without permission (scraping, phishing, doxxing)

  • Upload malware or attempt to disrupt the Services

  • Reverse engineer or bypass security or access controls

  • Post spam, scams, or deceptive promotions


7) Moderation and Enforcement

We can (but do not have to) monitor content and activity. We may:

  • Remove or restrict content

  • Limit features or visibility

  • Suspend or terminate accounts

  • Report unlawful activity when required or appropriate

We are not responsible for User Content posted by others.


8) Intellectual Property

Our content

The Services and all related content (excluding User Content) are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Services without written permission.

Your content

You retain ownership of your User Content. By posting User Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute that content as necessary to operate, improve, and promote the Services.

You can delete User Content where the Services allow. Certain backups or logs may persist for a limited time.


9) Donations and Support

SchoolSafeZone may accept donations or other support to advance its mission.

  • Donations are generally non-refundable, except where required by law or where we explicitly agree otherwise in writing.

  • We may provide donation acknowledgements/receipts. We do not provide tax advice; consult your tax professional regarding deductibility.

  • Donations may be used to support programs, operations, and administrative needs consistent with our mission and applicable law.

 


10) Paid Plans or Fees (If Applicable)

Some parts of the Services may include optional paid features, sponsorships, or school plans.

If you purchase a paid plan or pay a fee:

  • You authorize us (or our payment processor) to charge your payment method

  • Pricing and billing terms will be disclosed at checkout or in your plan description

  • Unless stated otherwise, fees are non-refundable (except as required by law)

Any fees collected help support SchoolSafeZone’s nonprofit mission and ongoing operations.


11) Third-Party Services and Links

The Services may link to third-party websites or tools. We don’t control and aren’t responsible for third-party content, privacy practices, or performance. Use them at your own risk.


12) Disclaimers

The Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties.

No professional advice: Content on the Services may include opinions and general information and is not legal, medical, educational, or professional advice.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, error-free operation, or any particular outcomes from using the Services.


13) Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SchoolSafeZone and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business interruption.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for all claims relating to the Services will not exceed the greater of:

  • $100, or

  • the amount you paid us for the Services in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

(Some jurisdictions limit these exclusions; this applies only to the extent allowed.)


14) Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SchoolSafeZone from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from:

  • your use of the Services

  • your User Content

  • your violation of these Terms

  • your violation of any rights of another person or entity


15) Termination

You may stop using the Services at any time.

We may suspend or terminate access if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk, or misused the Services.

Sections that should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute provisions) will survive.


16) Privacy

Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy: [Link to Privacy Policy].


17) Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms and revise the Effective Date. Continued use means you accept the updated Terms.


18) Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of laws principles, unless your local consumer protection laws require otherwise.


19) Disputes and Venue

Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Services will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Contra Costa County, California, and you consent to that jurisdiction and venue.


20) Severability

If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
